As you welcome your precious newborn into the world, capturing these first moments is a priceless gift. I understand that these early days are fleeting and so very special. My newborn sessions are thoughtfully designed to be laid-back and stress-free experiences, allowing you to document every tiny detail of your baby’s first days.
You’ll receive a full gallery featuring a beautiful blend of candid and traditional photos, preserving those sleepy smiles for you to look back on for years to come. All sessions also include access to the client closet for both mom and baby as well as style guidance for the whole family so mamas don't have to stress about what to wear.

Once you fill out the form, I will personally reach out to you to learn more about your hopes for the session, as well as the timeline you are wanting to schedule for. Once we ensure that our visions and timelines align, I will get you set up with your client portal where you will have access to your contract, planning planning questionairre and collect your retainer to hold your session date.

Prep for Your Shoot
I love to make the process of planning your session super easy! I have a Location Guide which can help you pick a beautiful spot for your session and A Session Guide to help you know everything you need to know about planning process and what goes into our session. Stressed about planning outfits for the family? Don't worry! I also have the option for complimentary styling for your session, and can suggest color schemes, outfits, and even give you direct links to purchase outfits so the planning stress is gone, and all you need to do is press check-out.
I'll send you "all-the-things" for your big day - location ideas, outfit inspo, you name it!
the Big Day
Here's where the fun begins! On our session day, we will meet at the chosen location and begin making beautiful memories. I love to let the children take the lead, and incorporate play into our sessions to get the genuine smiles and authentic personalities weaved into our session. You will be given prompts to elicit real connection between your family, rather than simply stiff and awkward posing.

Gallery Delivery
After our session, you can expect to receive your full gallery of images within 2 weeks. Can't wait? I also give sneak peeks for all of my sessions within 48 hours, so you have an image or share with your friends and family and build excitement for the full gallery reveal!

Print Ordering
Though you are given a full gallery of images and a print release, purchasing prints through Scarlet Oak Photography is the best way to ensure the highest, heirloom quality prints and albums. I use a professional print lab for all of my prints and products, ensuring you receive the truest color tones and clarity in your images, as well as the highest quality of paper choices to allow your images to last generations.

It's typically recommended to plan your newborn session for within 7-14 days after birth if you want the sweet sleepy newborn images. This is not set in stone though, and I have photographed newborns that have been more than a month old and those have been some of my favorite sessions. I would much rather you book your session it's when you are ready! Don't put pressure on yourself to get photographs taken too early as this is such a huge period of transition for both you and your baby.
WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
When booking a session with Scarlet Oak Photography, you do not need to stress about what to wear. Not only to I send all of my clients a style guide for inspiration, I offer a client closet for moms and babies, and can also offer complimentary and custom styling advice for the entire family.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
I would love to photograph your family wherever you feel most comfortable. Do you prefer to keep your baby home for a little longer? I can travel and bring the studio to you!
Not ready for visitors, or simply don't want to worry about your house looking perfect? (My house looks like a tornado as a mom of 2!) I would love to have you in my cozy, private studio.
what location should i choose?
I only take a handful of newborn sessions each month. You never know exactly when you will deliver, or how recovery will go, so limiting my newborn bookings allows me to have the flexibility to move my schedule around to meet your needs. Due to this, I suggest booking your newborn session early, at least a few months before delivery.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK YOU?
Yes! I travel to document newborn sessions in my clients' own homes all the time. I do, however, try to stay within 1 hour of my studio in Cumming, GA.

HOW CAN I GET A QUOTE?
All of my sessions require a non-refundable retainer of $200. This holds your session date for you and ensures my availability for your newborn session.
